Definition and Usage Area of Aerosil 200

Aerosil 200 is a hydrophilic fumed silica with a specific surface of 200 m2/g. Silica dioxide (SiO 2), also known as silica, is a natural compound produced from the world’s two richest substances. Silicon dioxide, most recognized in the form of quartz, is found naturally in water, plants, animals, and the earth. Earth’s crust is 59 percent silica and more than 95 percent of the known rocks on the planet. When you sit on a beach, it’s silicon dioxide in the form of sand that gets between your toes.

Usage areas

  • It is generally used for thickening and strengthening.
  • It is used in paints and coatings, unsaturated polyester resins, sheeted and gel covers, HTV and RTV-2K silicone rubber, adhesives and sealants, printing inks, adherent compounds and gels, plant protection, food and cosmetics.
  • Control of rheology and dixotropy of liquid systems, binders, polymers etc.; It is used as an anti-slump, thickener (thickener) and anti-sagging agent.
  • Reinforcing HCR and RTV-2K silicone rubber; It is used to improve the free flowability and anti-caking characteristics of the powder.

Is a hydrophilic fumed silica with a specific surface area of 200 m2/g. AEROSIL fumed silica effectively prevents moistening and caking of the peroxo and persulfate salts usually used in bleaching powders. This results in improved free-flow properties even after extended storage. This fumed silica can also be used as a thickening and stabilizing agents in bleaching creams. In hair dyes, AEROSIL fumed silica prevents a premature reaction and caking of powdered colorant components. It is particularly effective as a drying agent in a concentration of up to 4.0 percent w/w. In hair conditioners, hydrophilic AEROSIL types such as AEROSIL 200 and AEROSIL 300, can help increase the volume of the hair, counteracting the “flattening” effect of the conditioning agent.
